Last night, two brave officers of the Urbandale and Des Moines Police Departments lost their lives. Officers Justin Martin (2015) and Sgt. Anthony Beminio (2001) were graduates of Simpson College.
We were devastated by this news and want to extend our condolences to the families and friends of Martin and Beminio. They both impacted our campuses in different and unique ways. The people they connected with during their time at Simpson have forever been changed and bettered by having known them.
Both of these men were upstanding members of their communities and their presence will be greatly missed. However, the impact they’ve made will continue on for years to come.
Now is the time to grieve and to remember. To memorialize and move forward. To never forget and to emulate the goodness these men embodied.
