Simpson – The Simpson College Student Government Association (SGA) on Wednesday, November 3th, moved to allocate $1430 of their internal budget to protect and save the koi fish in Dunn Library.
In previous years the fish have been harmed and killed by dirt, sand, and salt tracked in by shoes over the pond on the stairwell. It has been expensive to keep replacing the fish and cleaning their enclosure.
This allocated money will be used to purchase little pieces of metal to wrap around each step of the staircase, allowing them to catch any debris from shoes. This should protect the filtration system that keeps the fish alive and provide a more suitable living environment for them.
